What is a Milgrain ring?

Milgrain jewelry is surprisingly common in jewelry, although most people are unfamiliar with the term. Milgrain is a design or decoration on the edges of a piece of jewelry, commonly a ring, that resembles a row of tiny beads. Sometimes spelled millgrain or millegrain, the word is derived from the French translation for “thousand grains.”
Milgrain designs are usually a feature of antique jewelry, but modern jewelers have started to incorporate this design into their collections as well. Jewelers incorporate milgrain into rings to recreate a more authentic vintage look.
